Hutton Hotel Debuts New Restaurant, WestEnd Kitchen & Bar

Hutton Hotel welcomes WestEnd Kitchen & Bar! A brand new restaurant and bar offering inventive Southern cuisine has opened in the lobby of Hutton Hotel as part of the hotel’s multi-phase renovation.  Opened on December 3, the food presented at WestEnd Kitchen & Bar is thoughtful and delicious, drawing inspiration from the culinary team’s southern heritage.

At WestEnd, you will experience unique Southern-style hospitality from design to menu. Each dish has thoughtful touches that remain true to its roots while subtly layering some international flare. Hutton Hotel’s Executive Chef Chris Anderson leads the culinary concept for the restaurant. Chef joined the team in June from Moto in Chicago, where he was the first chef to earn a Michelin star with a southern influenced tasting menu.

“I wanted to create a menu that celebrates the versatility of Southern style cooking while introducing exotic, international flavors to the palate,” said Executive Chef Chris Anderson. “It was important to create a menu for the new restaurant that not only appeals to the palate of the local clientele, but also pushes boundaries to provide an inventive take on southern fare.”Baby Beets Salad_02_Winter 2017_WestEnd Kitchen & Bar_credit Flint Chaney

Anderson was born and raised in North Carolina, where he first fostered a true love for southern cuisine. Since then he has continued to explore local farms, new ingredients, and refined techniques to ultimately make WestEnd Kitchen & Bar’s menu come to life.

The bar menu at WestEnd is led by Beverage Manager Megan Cross. Megan joined the team from Old Lightning in Los Angeles and has useWestEnd Kitchen & Bar_bar painting_credit Nils Schlebuschd her expertise to create a two part beverage menu: a selection of signature cocktails inspired by Chef Anderson’s flavor profiles and her own fresh revival of classic cocktails. Some of her special menu items include The Grasshopper, a 05-megan-bar-portrait-79vibrant drink made with cognac, crème de menthe, white cacao and cream which are enjoyable as a pre-dinner drink or pair well with the international flavors of Chef’s entrees as well as The Coco Belle, made with bourbon, rum, cynar with white cocoa.

If you are not in the mood for a cocktail, the beverage menu also offers a robust selection of wines by the glass and bottle, as well as an assortment of Tennessee beers.

WestEnd Kitchen & Bar was concepted by Five Leaves and curated by Studio 11 Design. Together, they made it their mission to encourage a natural flow throughout the space with a bar connecting the restaurant to the hotel lobby. Although the new restaurant now boasts playful and bold elements such as metallic floor tiles, iron and brass finishing’s, not every piece is band new. The original barn wood floor has been refinished to preserve Hutton’s original character and connect the old to the new.
